Gentlemen,

You are receiving this email because you are either a SJS alumni water polo player or a Masters player, and you love the sport of water polo because it has impacted your life in a positive way. I have really good news for you all and I need your help. We are in the process of getting Men's Water Polo back at San Jose State for the 2015 season! Yes, you read that right. The last NCAA Men's team on campus was in 1981, so we are reaching out to our alumni and anyone else who loves and plays the sport.

SJS Men's water polo had a long and rich tradition and produced countless coaches and officials for the sport, and we want to make that happen again. The NCAA has not added a Division I Men's team in over 30 years, so the addition of San Jose's will have a tremendous impact on every level of the sport we love! Let's be honest, you don't take a job that pays less than the tuition you just paid, so the impact on developing new teachers and coaches will be fantastic.

How are we making this happen? A committee was formed, consisting of Bill Simpkins, Bill Gerdts, Ed Samuels and Bruce Watson; we received official approval from the Athletic Director, the President and Board. That is the good news, the bad news is that the program has to be fully self-funded, at least initially. This is where you come in.

I have attached our brochure regarding the program and its rich history, as well as a Pledge Form. Some of your pictures may be in there, or you played against or now play with some of those alumni. We are asking you to use the pledge form and make a five year commitment of so much per year. For the alumni, this is finally your chance to support and follow the school you actually played for! For you others, it's your chance to help the sport that has been good to you, also since most of our alumni are older than me, we need you. I understand that some of you on this list have been approached individually and have given generously, or will soon, and we thank you.

We're asking for your help to do this. I know the economy is doing well, so no excuses. Make your pledge today and make Spartans everywhere proud! Thank you in advance for your donation and if you have any questions at all, like how high can you go, let us know. I would love to hear from every one of you regarding your donation.
